The slang term "coyote ugly" refers to the feeling of waking up after a one night stand and discovering that you are beside someone who is so physically repulsive that you would gladly gnaw off any of your limbs that he or she is sleeping on just so you can get away without being discovered.
Piper Perabo actually sang the songs herself, but the decision was made to dub in the voice of LeAnn Rimes singing instead.
The soundtrack album of this movie was on the Billboard Top 40 album chart for over a year. It has sold over three million copies.
After test screening, the filmmakers discovered from the audience that they wanted to see more of John Goodman. New scenes with him were filmed and added in to the final cut.
